Student Branch Chapters (SBCs)

Student Branches provide IEEE Student members the opportunity to meet and learn from fellow students, as well as faculty members and professionals in the field. An active IEEE Student Branch can be one of the most positive elements in a department or University, offering programs in the IEEE designated fields of Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology, as well as similarly related fields.

A Technical Chapter at your Student Branch (e.g. Student Branch Chapter of IES) is your local link to the valuable resources available from the IEEE and its many Societies and Councils.

It is a novel idea to share experience and support student’s projects and activities. The SBC is created by Students and YPs for Students and YPs,  depending on number of new SB Technical Chapters and real activity of existing chapters will allow to increase the support.

The SBC can be supported by the Society, which offer the knowledge and funds for an interesting Young Professionals & Student project. Moreover, the SBC is able to receive Best Student Branch Chapter Award for its activities.

The Student Branch Chapter petition form includes complete directions and a workflow document of processing activity can be found on the IEEE website address given in [5]. Thus, please consider setting up a new IES Student Branch Chapter.

IES Student Branch Chapter Activity Appreciation

Student members are future leaders in technical activities of the society. The appreciation recognizes the activities of the IES Student Branch Chapter (IES SBC). The appreciation facilitates the winning IES SBC to nominate one or more active student(s) to receive a travel grant for participating in one of the major conferences of the Industrial Electronics Society (IES): The IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE) or The IEEE Industrial Electronics Conference (IECON). Both conferences are held annually and the latter is the society’s flagship conference.

The appreciation is offered to an IES SBC which was very active in IES during a particular year. The respective winning IES SBC will then nominate a student (or a group of students) to benefit from the travel assistance associated with the appreciation. The candidate(s) is expected to have demonstrated successful performance in the IES SBC.
